March is all about basketball and what an exciting time of the year it is. We are gearing up to celebrate the tournament and getting our brackets ready to fill. Are you planning to host a watch party in your home? If so, we are sharing some fun party ideas, decorating tips, fun food station inspiration, and steps to create amazing and delicious recipes using Coca-Cola. Did I mention how easy they were to re-create! We are also sharing a fun printable that you can use during your party!
Set the tone with a themed invite. These can be sent electronically or using a printable invite as pictured. I love sending paper invites out and love getting them in the mail even more.
Greet your guests with an ice cold Coca-Cola and VIP All Access Pass when they arrive. Simply print the passes out on white card stock paper. If you have a laminator handy, make it official and laminate the passes to make them a bit more durable. Use a hole punch and add a lanyard cord to the pass. Guests can now put them on and wear during the party. Download our fun lanyards here.
I love creating fun stations equipped with everything your guests need to serve themselves. For this station, I added small but impactful touches such as the striped patterns and various shades of orange. Once you determine your menu, find serving dishes to display your items in. As you can see, I used a mixture of pails, acrylic boxes, cake stands, and plates.
Popcorn is always a popular game time treat. I used scalloped acrylic boxes and added a referee inspired DIY touch by using a roll of black wash tape to add stripes to the box. Scallops are fun, but I would suggest using boxes with a straight edge. It will allow you to easily fold the washi tape over the top and bottom of your box.
Is your mouth watering yet? Well I sure do hope so! Sliders are really popular for socials with family and friends. Instead of Hamburger Sliders, try Chicken and Meatball Sliders. I tossed the chicken and meatballs in barbecue sauce with a special ingredient, Coca-Cola! You can make your own too using the recipe at the bottom of the post. Sam’s Club has everything you need to make your basketball spread amazing.
Fries are always popular add to your party menu. Try tossing them in olive oil, sprinkle with your favorite season, and layer a coat of parmesan season to add a different flavor. Be sure to add small ramekins of ketchup for dipping.
Slushies are always so much fun and refreshing. You will need something to cool off your party guests as the games get heated. Why not cool off with a good old fashion slushie made with Sprite and Coke. It’s very simple. Check out our quick and simple recipe.
Coke | Sprite Slushie Recipe
- 6 cups of Coca-Cola
- 16 Ice Cubes
- Pour Coca-Cola into a freezer safe dish and place in the freezer for a minimum of 3 hours.
- Chill the left over Coca-Cola in refrigerator.
- After 3 hours, remove the dish from the freezer and add the frozen Coca-Cola to the blender.
- Add 12 oz. of Coca- Cola or Sprite to the blender plus the ice cubes ( at least 16).
- Blend until the ice and soda is mixed and then transfer to a glass of your choice. Top with a paper straw and a fresh slice of fruit to add a pop of color. Enjoy!
DIY Referee Coaster
Create your own referee inspired drink coaster using the same technique as above with black washi tape. You can use a cardboard circular coaster or a plain white piece of tile purchased from your local home improvement store. The tile coasters will be a bit more durable than the cardboard.
