Valentine’s Day is a wonderful holiday, which gives another reason to show your tender feelings for your loved one. This does not always require expensive gifts, it is enough to present a traditional gift – a modest Valentine’s card – to a heartfelt friend. And what if it was edible and sweet?

Fresh cookies, crispy waffles and the original “Red Velvet” – we’ve chosen for you five simple recipes, with which even a novice cook can cope. What could be better than a present you make with your soul and your own hands?

Crispy Waffles

If you own a waffle maker, make this crispy treat for breakfast! The shape of the product can be any shape, but very successful on this day look “heart” waffles. You can add a little cocoa to the batter for a chocolate touch and flavor.

Ingredients:

  • flour – 120 g
  • sugar – 90 g
  • butter – 85 g
  • chicken eggs – 1 pc
  • vanillin – to taste
  • oil – for greasing

Method of preparation:

  1. Melt the butter in your usual way: in a water bath or in a microwave oven.
  2. Mix the warm butter and sugar until completely dissolved.
  3. Add the egg and beat it. Then add the flour and vanilla and bring the dough to a smooth consistency.
  4. Following the instructions, preheat the waffle iron. If necessary, grease with a drop of vegetable oil.
  5. Spoon the batter onto the surface of the waffle iron, smoothing it out in a not too thick layer.
  6. Bake the waffles until golden in color. They will be soft at first, and when they cool, they will become firmer and crispier.
  7. Stack the waffles and serve with a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

The shade of the popular cake will fit perfectly into the color scheme of Valentine’s Day. And we suggest you make a traditional treat in the form of portioned products. Such cupcakes are enough for the whole family, if you decide to have a celebration with children or parents.

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • wheat flour – 200 g
  • kefir – 150 ml
  • sugar – 140g
  • vegetable oil – 100 ml
  • hen eggs – 1 pc
  • baking powder – 6 g
  • cocoa powder – 1 tsp.
  • food coloring – 1 tsp.

For the cream:

  • 33-35% cream – 400 ml
  • cream cheese – 300 g
  • powdered sugar – 50 g
  • vanilla sugar – 10 gr

Method of preparation:

  1. In a deep bowl, mix together the dry ingredients for the dough: flour, sugar, baking powder and cocoa.
  2. In another bowl combine the egg, butter and kefir. Add the food coloring and whisk.
  3. Use a silicone spatula to mix the dry mixture into the liquid mixture. The dough should be loose, but without any large lumps.
  4. Spread the batter into the cupcake molds, lining them with paper liners beforehand.
  5. Bake in a preheated 175 degrees Celsius oven for 20 minutes.
  6. Prepare the cream. In a clean, dry bowl whip the cold cream with the vanilla sugar. Start on a low speed, gradually increasing as you go.
  7. Add the cream cheese and powdered sugar and whisk until combined.
  8. Cool the cupcakes on a wire rack, then use a piping bag to pipe the cream. Decorate as desired!

Chocolate Chocolates

A neat dessert with a rich chocolate flavor is sure to cheer up your loved one. The candy can be served for breakfast with a cup of coffee or for evening tea.

Ingredients:

  • bitter chocolate – 180 g
  • 33-35% cream – 180 g
  • sugar – 70 g
  • cocoa powder – 40 g
  • butter – 20 gr

Method of preparation:

  1. Pour the cream and sugar into a heavy bottomed saucepan. Bring to the boil, stirring all the time. Remove from heat.
  2. Pour the mixture over the chocolate, broken into pieces. While stirring, dissolve the chocolate.
  3. Stir in the butter until smooth. Place in fridge for a few hours, preferably overnight.
  4. Use a teaspoon to form balls, roll them in cocoa powder.
  5. Put the sweets in the fridge and take them out just before you wrap them in a nice box and give them away!

Linzer cookies

Austrian tender dough cookies are often made for New Year’s Eve, but in the context of February 14, this recipe is just as popular. If you don’t have the raspberry jam used in the classic version, take any other kind!

Ingredients:

  • wheat flour – 250 g
  • butter – 200
  • chicken eggs – 1 pc
  • sugar – 70 g
  • hazelnut – 50 g
  • cinnamon – ½ tsp.
  • baking powder – ½ tsp.
  • jam – 130 g
  • powdered sugar – to taste

Method of preparation:

  1. Using a blender, chop the hazelnuts. Mix with dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon.
  2. Grind the dry mixture with the melted butter into crumbs. Add the egg and knead into a smooth dough.
  3. Roll into a ball, wrap in clingfilm and place in the refrigerator for 40 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough between two sheets of baking paper. Use a mold to cut out the hearts, half of them should have holes in the center.
  5. Place the pieces in the fridge for 15 minutes. Then bake in a preheated oven at 180 ° C for 15 minutes.
  6. Allow the cookies to cool. Sprinkle the halves with a hole generously with powdered sugar, and place a spoonful of raspberry jam on the whole ones. Pair the halves with each other.
  7. Serve these cookies, made with love, with tea at any time of day.

Ice cream for two

Want to surprise your other half? Serve pre-made ice cream for dinner. We even have an unusual recipe for you – on cottage cheese. All you have to do is go to a candy store, buy beautiful sprinkles and marshmallow. And then dinner will end with a fun eating homemade ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • 9% cottage cheese – 200 g
  • frozen strawberries – 100 g
  • bananas – 2 pcs.
  • liquid honey – 2 tbsp.
  • almond milk – 50 ml

Method of preparation:

  1. Defrost the strawberries, combine with 100g of cottage cheese and beat in a blender.
  2. Add a banana, chopped in pieces, and 1 tbsp. honey. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Place the mixture in a container and freeze in the freezer until stiff. You will have a pink strawberry ice cream.
  4. Stir the rest of the cottage cheese with the banana, add honey and a little milk. Mix until smooth.
  5. Put the banana ice cream in a container too and leave in the freezer for a few hours.
  6. Serve with confectionery sprinkles and other sweets that will give the dessert a festive mood.
